The Alexander Maverick Fent Shop

Some of the most interesting fabrics we print never make it into our standard collections.
Alongside our production, we're constantly experimenting. Testing new base cloths. Refining colourways. Exploring different print techniques. Every print run teaches us something, and not every metre is destined for a customer's order.
The Fent Shop is where those fabrics find a useful second life: distinctive printed cloth for interiors projects, offered in limited lengths at reduced prices. Here you'll find genuine Alexander Maverick prints, end-of-roll lengths, colour trials, base cloth experiments and occasional archive pieces. Some are simply the last few metres from a production run; others may have a small weaving imperfection or minor print fault, but each one is clearly described and priced to reflect its condition. We believe beautiful fabric should be used, not stored away.
What is a fent?
"Fent" is a traditional textile term for a remnant or end of roll.
Every piece in the Fent Shop is unique, with lengths suited to anything from curtains and upholstery to cushions, lampshades, dining chairs and smaller interior projects. Many are one-offs that won't ever be repeated.
A glimpse behind the print room door
If you've ever wondered what happens between an idea becoming a design and a finished fabric leaving our print room, the Fent Shop is full of those moments in between. You might come across a colour trial, an unusual base cloth, an archived design in a discontinued colourway, or the final metres from a successful print run. Each piece tells a small part of the story of how our fabrics are made.
Why are they reduced?
Every fabric has its own reason for being here.
You might find:
• End-of-roll lengths
• Colour development trials
• Print strike-offs
• Base cloth trials
• Archive designs and discontinued colourways
• Fabrics with small weaving imperfections
• Pieces with minor print faults
Where there is a flaw, we'll describe it as clearly as possible and price the fabric accordingly. Many imperfections are cosmetic, but if a mark or fault may affect practical use, we will say so.
Always changing
Because the Fent Shop reflects what's happening in our print room, it is constantly evolving.
New fabrics appear as we develop collections, test new ideas and complete production runs. Some remain available for a while, while others disappear almost as quickly as they arrive. If something catches your eye, it is worth acting quickly; it is unlikely there will be another exactly like it.
Making better use of good fabric
As textile printers, we know that remnants are an inevitable part of making fabric well.
Rather than treating them as waste, we'd much rather they found their way into someone's home.
Whether you're upholstering a chair, making Roman blinds, creating a statement lampshade or looking for an unusual piece of printed cloth, the Fent Shop offers a limited opportunity to own genuine Alexander Maverick fabrics at a fraction of their original price.
The pieces may be imperfect or unrepeatable, but that is part of their character, and part of what makes them worth discovering. Take a look here
